updates long overdue

I know, I know. It's been AGES since I last posted. Never mind that my being back stopped being true almost immediately...which is why I won't make any promises about sticking around this time.

So what have I been up to for the past year? Well, if you haven't already guessed it, I finally managed to escape from the clutches of Boss and launched myself into...the black abyss of unemployment. Luckily, that state was only temporary, but so was the arrangement that landed me in San Diego for six months. It's okay though, because, although short-lived, it meant I got to be closer to J and had the chance to move towards a career change.

Now I'm back in LA as a full-time student (once again) and in the clutches of another potentially crazy employer (once again), to hear the way my new coworkers tell it. At least that'll guarantee a constant stream of blogging material, eh? And just to keep adding to the parallelism, J is moving to DC for law school in less than two months. Fuck me, right?

But seriously, aside from some hiccups, life's been pretty swell. I've learned so much in the time I spent away from home, and I'm grateful for all the wonderful people I've met and enriching experiences I've had since then. On that note, I leave you with my feel-good song from the past few days:

for the record, my heart is sore

Some recent developments:
  • Boss seemed to be giving me the cold shoulder today because of my resentful attitude yesterday. Despite how much more peaceful it was this way, it really stunted productivity as most assignments have to go through Boss before they can be completed. This, in the end, will probably fuck me over.
  • I am seriously contemplating moving to China even though I have yet to secure a job there. (At this point I think the only things holding me back are thoughts about how my family might react and my innate tendency to resist huge changes like this.)
  • I never imagined I could miss someone as much as I do right now.
  • Sketchy has not asked for my number even once since we met. Instead, he has tried to drop me hints, like casually giving me his number so that I might casually text him one day. It's become a little game in my head, to see how long I could keep it from him. And not out of malice, by the way. I'm just...stubborn :) But yes, dude has gotten impatient enough to tell me that I should text him soon. I still haven't decided what to do.
It's been a bit of a rough week. I'm attributing my hypersensitivity to my period's impending arrival. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

wine is the one thing that would never reject my advances

I had an interview on Friday for a job that didn't exactly relate to my major but was still relevant enough to warrant my applying to it (because, let's be honest now, I'm getting desperate). I was super excited afterward because the interviewer and the potential boss-to-be seemed to like me, but I made a huge blunder while responding to the infamous salary requirement question. Instead of bullshitting my way out of it with a vague response, I threw out a number that was probably much more than they could've given me and now I'm afraid that it's cost me this job. Ugh. I'm THIS close to selling my soul for a regular paycheck.

This is my second post in a row that I'm composing while drunk. Rejection, no matter in what form, is depressing and disheartening. So I felt the need to take full advantage of the remaining half-bottle of wine in my fridge.

Now I'm going to write checks for my dad and hope that I don't fuck up. Though if I can type up a blog post while intoxicated, I think making out a few numbers should be a cakewalk. Might be a sign that I need more wine.
